Terminus

An excavation crew mysteriously disappeared during a mining operation in a lonely sector of space, and you have been sent to investigate. But be wary, for within the black voids between, a malevolent, shifting evil lurks. 

Navigate the treacherous asteroid fields and destroy the shape shifting aliens. Collect credits and earn ranks, using both to upgrade your ship. Customize your loadout to fit your playstyle with over twenty five passive and active perks, one of eight unique weapons, and one of six classes, to survive for as long as you can and set the record.

Some aliens will shift between forms, and the asteroids, which are randomly generated shapes in the first place, will split into newly generated shapes on destruction. You also need to change your upgrades to find the best combo because there is a limit to the number of perks you can have. Though not physical shapeshifting, it is related.
